I Could Never Be A Tour Guide
I was on a mini vacation last week. We went to Savannah and Jekyll Island, Georgia. One thing that my husband and I enjoy doing is touring historic homes and there are plenty to choose from, especially in Savannah. I loved the homes we saw and the interesting information provided by the tour guides. During each tour, I was reminded again and again of why I could never be a tour guide. Tour guides have to repeat themselves all day long, something I don’t particularly like to do. And, this repetition is not just because they conduct more than one tour per day. They have to repeat themselves because people just don’t listen well. The next time you are on a tour, notice how many questions are asked by members of the group, the answers to which have already been provided by the guide.
How well do you listen? Read my article, Listen Up, to get some tips for improving your listening skills.
